What’s proposed
1. Location of Tree: Rear boundary of the property, approximately 3.5 metres from the rear fence. Species: Callistemon (Bottlebrush Red). Approximate Height: 11 metres. 2. Grounds for Removal The removal of the Callistemon is necessary due to ongoing infrastructure damage, safety risks, and spatial incompatibility with the site: Infrastructure and Property Damage: Paving: The root system has aggressively expanded, lifting and cracking the surrounding paved area and garden shed, which creates a significant trip hazard (particularly for children) and disrupts the usability of the rear yard. Sewer Line: Root intrusion and pressure are directly impacting the underground sewer line, threatening structural plumbing integrity and risking costly blockages or leaks. Structural Integrity and Safety Hazards: The tree has recently suffered a major limb failure (a fallen limb), indicating declining structural integrity and making further branch drops a persistent safety risk for anyone using the backyard. At approximately 11 metres tall, the tree is disproportionately large for the scale of the backyard, creating an oppressive enclosure and ongoing maintenance hazards. 3. Proposed Replacement Plan: We are fully prepared to plant a suitable, smaller-scale, or non-invasive replacement tree in a similar location nearby.
