What’s proposed
Application to remove 2 trees from the yard and replace them with smaller native trees. The pine is a large, mature tree that restricts sunlight, causing decline of surrounding plants and limiting use of the yard. It contains dead branches, some already fallen, with ongoing branch drop within the property and onto the verge, presenting a safety risk. Lower branches previously impeded pedestrians along Arnheim Place and have been trimmed to address immediate access issues; however, dead wood and continued branch shedding remain an ongoing risk to pedestrians, residents, and property, particularly during windy or storm conditions. The Chinese elm originated as a self-seeded weed that grew rapidly into a mature tree and continues to produce numerous saplings across the yard. Despite regular maintenance, regrowth persists, creating a continual management issue. The elm has developed an extensive root system that may be impacting the house and nearby infrastructure.
