What’s proposed
Xylem Arboriculture Services has been urgently engaged by the client, Mr. Aaron Lea, to undertake a Tree Risk Assessment and provide arboricultural advice in relation to a subject tree located on site. A mature Eucalyptus saligna is located at the rear of the property, near proposed infrastructure. A previous Arboricultural Impact Assessment was performed, in August, 2025, identifying the subject tree is viable for retention. Site plans identify a Major encroachment into the Tree Protection Zone of the subject tree, works are to incur within 2.5m from the centre of the trunk. Proposed construction includes excavation, trenching & grade changes within the Tree Protection Zone (TPZ) & Structural Root Zone (SRZ). Trees proposed for removal Subject tree, Eucalyptus saligna, is to be removed. The mature tree, of moderate retention value, is to be impacted by proposed development. An updated assessment has been undertaken, determining the level of encroachment, exceeding 20%, therefore resulting in a major encroachment in adherence to AS4970-2025, Protection of Trees on Development Sites. Grade changes, soil disturbance, root severance & increased compaction within the TPZ/SRZ are expected with proposed works. These factors, causing an anaerobic soil environment, increase the potential for the structural integrity of the tree to be compromised. Modifications of the secondary dwelling are not viable, with proposed works to cause further encroachments on multiple mature trees on the South-Western boundary. Tree removal works are to be undertaken by a minimum AQF3 Arborist. 6.ii Compensatory plantings/habitat installation To mitigate the loss of canopy coverage on site, the client has expressed willingness to replant additional site specific plantings. 3x Eucalyptus saligna are to be replanted once construction works are complete, in an area of the site that allows for primary/secondary growth of the trees. Additional installation of habitat boxes in surrounding mature trees is recommended.
