What’s proposed
Remove one (1) Jacaranda mimosifolia (Jacaranda) from the front yard. Removal refused. This young tree is in good health, condition and structure, it is growing with vitality. It is situated a sufficient distance away from all property boundaries, the applicant's concerns regarding leaf drop can be addressed through regular pruning. This tree enhances environmental amenity and is a semi-mature, established specimen that contributes to the interwoven urban canopy of the Biodiversity Habitat Corridor and is worthy of retention. For people who live in urban environments, it is appropriate to expect that some degree of house exterior and grounds maintenance will be required in order to appreciate and retain the aesthetic and environmental benefits of having trees in such an urban environment. “The dropping of leaves, flowers, fruit, seeds or small elements of deadwood by urban trees ordinarily will not provide the basis for ordering removal of or intervention with an urban tree." Barker v Kyriakides (NSW, 2017) The following pruning works are permitted: i. Prune to provide 1-2metres clearance to building lines and rooflines ii. Prune to remove deadwood iii. Prune to retain shape of tree iv. Max. live branch diameter: 70mm. v. All cuts to nearest branch collar/previous pruning points
